Sawmill repairs, new blades and a volunteer blacksmith expected to put shops back in service

S2 also said a new blacksmith volunteer from the Seaport will help get the blacksmith shop operational in the fall. The sawmill group is planning a head-gate repair project and continuing seasonal maintenance; volunteer hours for the spring season were recorded and small repairs (including a rotted post replaced for about $1,500) were completed.
Commissioners discussed storage, future repair needs and possible funding lines for capital and maintenance. The town council liaison had earlier urged the commission to ensure carryover capital and maintenance accounts are tracked in the upcoming budget, a point the sawmill volunteers were asked to note when planning capital work.
