Superintendent briefed the board on the revenue-neutral rate (RNR) process, saying district assessed value increased by about $2,500,000 and that the computed RNR is 48.074, while last year's millage was roughly 49.17.
"Our assessed value for the district has gone up, around $2,500,000," the superintendent said. "The computed revenue neutral rate would be 48.074. So if we did last year's millage, we would be above revenue neutral."
The board voted to set a public hearing to consider exceeding the revenue-neutral rate for Monday, Sept. 14, 2026 at 7:00 PM in the board office and set the separate budget hearing for the same day at 7:05 PM. The superintendent said the hearings will be published along with Code 99 and the proposed mill levies; staff will provide budget information as soon as it is available.
Board members discussed statutory timing challenges tied to final valuations in November and the practical need to set hearings in advance to preserve flexibility for levies. Both motions to set the hearing dates carried on voice votes.
