The board approved the purchase of three propane buses to take advantage of an EPA rebate program. Packet figures presented during the meeting listed a cost per bus at $163,400 and an estimated net per-bus cost after the $25,000 rebate of about $138,400; delivery was estimated for July 2025. The presenter said the purchase had been discussed earlier in the year and that the expense will not hit the district's FY 2024-25 books until the 2025-26 fiscal year when the buses are delivered.
Board members said the propane buses are quieter and burn cleaner compared with previous options and that the rebate offered substantial savings. The motion to approve the order carried on a roll-call vote.
