Selectboard approves engineer’s invoice but presses for punch‑list completion on North Road

Selectboard members reviewed an $11,604.14 invoice from John Harrington for construction-phase engineering services on the North Road project; Harrington’s time on site exceeded the initial 48‑hour estimate and the engineer billed for additional site visits. Board members debated whether the extra hours reflected necessary coordination with the contractor or inadequate earlier oversight; ultimately, the Selectboard voted to pay the invoice but emphasized that the engineer and contractor must complete a detailed punch list before final acceptance.

The punch list included culvert extensions and realignments, armoring and riprap at inlets and outlets, backfill and clean-outs, and drainage modifications to prevent road-raising from diverting water into private garages. Board members said Pike and Waters would be expected to correct errors at their cost where appropriate. "If something goes wrong with that road, then we're going to have to hold him accountable for it," one member said, and staff were directed to monitor completion and withholding of final payments until punch-list items are resolved.
