The Franklin County Board of Supervisors approved July 23 a motion to sell county parcel number 0530007600 in the Union Hall District to TY Investments LLC for $7,350 and authorized county staff and Walker Commercial Services to execute closing documents.
County staff explained the parcel is a small, landlocked property (approximately 0.588 acres) that the county has held since 2008 and was offered at auction through Walker Commercial Services. Supervisor Quinn, who moved the motion, read the motion into the record including the parcel number and sale amount: "I make a motion to approve the sale of county property located at parcel number 0530007600 in the amount of $7,350 and authorize Walker Commercial Services Inc, county attorney and county administrator and or designees to sign all necessary documents to execute this transaction with TY Investments LLC."
Supervisor Quinn and other supervisors asked whether the broker had disclosed access limitations. Daniel Wickham of Walker Commercial Services said bidders had been notified multiple times that the parcel is landlocked and accessible only by water, and that auction terms were buyer-beware. "The property, we did properly disclose to any and all bidders on the auction that it is landlocked and only accessible by water," Daniel Wickham said.
The motion passed on a unanimous voice/roll-call vote. The board recorded the parcel number and directed staff to proceed with execution of closing documents and related administrative steps.
