Council approves parking changes, vehicle sales and names Jimmy Hamilton chief of police

The Baxter Springs City Council approved a parking change on the south side of 15th Street — parking from Military to the alley between Military and Park — by unanimous vote. The council also authorized the police department to list a 2017 Dodge Charger and a 1993 AM General Humvee for sale on Purple Wave and directed proceeds to the municipal equipment fund.
Later in the meeting the council approved the mayor’s nomination of Jimmy Hamilton as Chief of Police on a motion by Chriestenson, seconded by Williams. The motion passed unanimously and the minutes record the appointment alongside other end-of-meeting formalities.
