The council approved Resolution 1881 to allocate $15,000, previously authorized, for 4th of July parade security. Parks Director Lina Hicks described the distribution: $8,500 for barriers lining the parade route, $2,500 for overtime to cover six additional city staff and roughly $4,000 to the Chamber of Commerce for hiring security and event staff. "The funds have already been authorized by council. This would just kind of break it up, of how we're going to spend it," Hicks said.
Council moved and voted to approve the resolution by voice vote. The action formalizes how the previously authorized funds will be spent on parade-route safety and staffing for the city’s Independence Day events.
