Road Agent Joe briefed the Select Board on recent and planned highway work, including Carpenter Road prep and paving, culvert replacements and ditching, cleanup at the Bear Hill well, and signage updates across town. He said severe runoff and vegetation blocking historic drainage on Granny Howe and Swiggy Brook Roads require re‑establishing drainage and new culverts, and requested a quote before renting an excavator.
Joe reported the highway department received asphalt bids from Advanced, Monroe/Continental and Busby and asked for paperwork to be submitted ASAP. He emphasized urgency in stockpiling sand and salt before winter and the board asked staff to obtain quotes and confirm State bid vendors. The Select Board also agreed to convene a multi‑board workshop (Planning, Heritage, Walkability, and State DOT) to develop a cost estimate and phasing for a proposed parking lot project.
