Library trustee seeks space reconfiguration and pest-control help after rodent damage

Library Trustee Sophia Johnson told the Select Board the library needs a secure workspace for the treasurer and requested relocation of the Heritage Commission desk and file cabinets to the upper floor. She also raised concerns about rodent damage to phone lines and ceiling areas and asked the board to clarify pest-control responsibility under the existing memorandum of understanding.

“There was enough rodent feces up there for [the phone company] to say this is going to be a big problem,” Johnson said. The board said the space would not be used for public programming to avoid egress and safety concerns, noted pest control likely falls under town building maintenance, and assigned Jeremy to coordinate with pest-control vendors and to evaluate structural repairs and MOU responsibilities.
