Tammy Verhus, interim executive director of the Rainier Foothills Wellness Foundation, told the Enumclaw City Council that the foundation’s school-based mental-health program has served a total of 82 students this year: 62 at Enumclaw High School, nine at Enumclaw Middle School and 11 at Thunder Mountain. “We have 62 at Enumclaw High School…6 of our EHS students, they graduated from therapy, which is huge,” Verhus said.
Verhus described changes in an internal behavioral metric, saying the average incidence figure moved from “0.69” to “1.016,” which she characterized as a 32-percent improvement in behavioral incidents. She also summarized the foundation’s senior hot-meals work: about 66 enrolled seniors, roughly 400 meals prepared from scratch each week, deliveries three times weekly to provide six meals per senior each week, and about 87 volunteers handling shopping, preparation and delivery. “We wanna thank you for your support,” Verhus said, asking the council to continue its partnership while the foundation searches for a new executive director.
The council did not take action on the presentation; members thanked Verhus and noted appreciation for the foundation’s work. The presentation preceded public-comment and committee-report items on the evening’s agenda.
