Phila Storts of 113 S. Washington said she initially opposed the position but changed her mind and "has really enjoyed having one" and asked the council to "bring her back to finish what she started," citing work on beautification. Kelly Lyons told the council she agreed with Storts and described Rachelle as "a wealth of information." Cindy Lawry and Monica Barton likewise called for the position to remain, and Matt Lyons said he was "shocked to find out she was let go" and warned eliminating the role "will be setting us back." Stacey Davis of Sumer County Economic Development said Belle Plaine is "on the cusp of change for growth" and urged the council to maintain momentum by keeping the administrator role.
The public comments were followed by council action later in the meeting to repeal the city code provision creating the position and to ratify the administrator’s termination. The meeting minutes show no motion during the session to reverse those actions.
