After hailstorm, city reports 19 permits, adjuster visit and dozens of contractor inquiries

City Administrator Webb updated the council on hailstorm recovery and permitting. He said an adjuster from KCAP will be on site starting Thursday to inspect damaged buildings and vehicles, and that staff have logged 19 permits so far related to storm work, 12 of which have been picked up; another eight remain pending and 11 were denied for not meeting code requirements such as lack of a sales‑tax number or insurance.
Webb encouraged residents to use the city’s list of licensed contractors and said staff are happy to provide an updated list. He also mentioned regional municipal forums and a legislative update available online for council members to review; no additional staff requests were made at the meeting.
The council discussed whether the city should post a public list of solicitors or licensed contractors online to help residents vet workers soliciting door‑to‑door.
