DA Office flags staffing concern; DOC discusses OWI contract changes and Justice Point data option

During the July 9 meeting, the District Attorney’s office signaled concern about whether the county has adequate staffing to support a Hybrid Treatment Court, calling staffing “an issue” that must be worked through and recommending CJCC-level discussion for support.
Anna Benzschawel, the Department of Corrections program policy analyst present, told the committee the OWI contract could be amended to reduce or remove a BAC requirement but that the program would still require participants to screen as high risk. She said contracting with Justice Point would raise case-management costs but would improve data tracking, and that the proposed changes need a written proposal for DOC review and a CJCC agenda item for approval.
