The council addressed a recently approved tax abatement for Sullivan's Concrete Coating after Partnership Director Buchanan located Washington County Commissioner Resolution 2002-10 related to economic-area designations. Councilmember Keeley Stingel initially moved to approve the abatement on the basis that documentation supported an existing Economic Revitalization Area; Councilmember Rondale Brishaber seconded and the motion passed.
County Attorney Alyssa Cochran reviewed Resolution 2002-10 and said its wording referenced an "economic development area," not explicitly an Economic Revitalization Area. Cochran recommended rescinding the prior approval to allow time for further legal research and review of prior resolutions to establish when and where an ERA had been created. Councilmember Stingel moved to rescind the abatement approval; the motion passed. The council then voted to table the Sullivan's Concrete Coating abatement until Attorney Cochran completes research.
