During the Aug. 21 budget hearings Sheriff Miller presented a study from the Sheriffs Association detailing salaries for jail officers and dispatchers and urged a wider pay differential between employees and supervisors. The sheriff also requested two additional correctional officers to address staffing needs.
Council members discussed the study and staffing request as part of the 2025 budget review. Subsequent minutes list agreed salary lines for detention positions (Jail Administrator $58,429; multiple Correctional Officer/Shift Lead positions at $41,140) and note the council’s overall consensus to grant an 8% salary increase unless otherwise specified.
