Commissioners accept 2025 highway/materials bids and review bridge bids; Shorts Corner Road bridge replacement begins

On Dec. 3 the board accepted multiple sealed 2025 bids for fuel, stone, asphalt and cold mix; Superintendent Voyles announced a Shorts Corner Road bridge replacement and closure. On Dec. 17 Temple & Temple submitted the lone bid of $585,542 for Bridge 61 on Bata Road and the board accepted it for review.
Attorney April Geltmaker read sealed bids for 2025 highway supplies and services (fuel, stone, cold mix and asphalt) to the commissioners on Dec. 3. Vendors included Riley Oil Company, Premier Energy, Petroleum Traders, Flynn Brothers, Robertson Crushed Stone, IMI locations, Cave Quarries, Heidelberg Materials, Davis Crushed Stone, Temple & Temple and others. Commissioner Rick Roberts moved to accept all bids; Commissioner Todd Ewen seconded and the motion passed.
Highway Superintendent Voyles told the board that work was starting on the bridge replacement on Shorts Corner Road, that the road would be closed, and that detour signage would be posted.
At the Dec. 17 meeting bids for Bridge 61 on Bata Road were read; Temple & Temple submitted the only bid at $585,542.00. Commissioner Roberts moved to accept the bid for review and Commissioner Ewen seconded; the motion passed. The transcript records the bidding amounts and that bid documents were available for viewing in the auditor's office.
