Chief Warner updated the board that the two additional outdoor secondary warning sirens are in production, with factory completion expected the week of Aug. 7 and installation anticipated in late August or September once transportation and field crews are scheduled. "We're expecting installations to begin either at the very end of August or moving into September," Chief Warner said.
Chief Warner said the two new sirens will be located near the North Old Mansfield Road water tower and at Wallen Park; staff also noted previous discussions about expanding coverage east and west in future years. The board asked whether children at the nearby school and residents on the east side would be able to hear the sirens; Chief Warner replied that they should be audible from the operational siren on South College and that future expansions will be considered later.
