City officials told the EDC board that negotiations are underway for two manufacturing facilities in the industrial park, including one prospective tenant who would operate bag and corrugated box manufacturing. "One of the manufacturing facilities would be a bag manufacturer, and the other one would be a, carton box a corrugated manufacturer," an administration speaker said.
Staff said the projects could bring substantial local employment when fully operational; in an earlier update a speaker estimated "5, 600 new jobs to Keene," which was presented as an expectation once the facilities are up and running. The administration said the land-sale negotiations were ongoing and that the prospective tenant had introduced himself at a prior meeting. The board did not vote on land sale terms at this meeting; staff said negotiations remain in process and further public information will follow as terms are finalized.
