The board approved a manufacturing innovation voucher for Ambulabs LLC of Warren, R.I., to test and validate a compact airborne-aerosols monitoring solution designed to measure smoke and other fine particulate matter.
Christina Brown, presenting staff recommendations, said the review committee approved three vouchers totaling $225,000 for board consideration. Ambulabs’ business manager, Andy Talley, told the board the company’s devices aim to “develop measurement technology on the basis that you don't measure it, you can't improve it.” Talley said the technology is patentable and that several U.S. utility patents are in process. Staff noted federal interest, including the U.S. Air Force, Naval Undersea Warfare Center, Department of Energy and NOAA. The board approved the voucher by voice vote; an exact roll call tally was not recorded in the public session.
