Wildfire Committee Signs Up for County Pilot Focused on Home Hardening

Council member Helen reported the wildfire committee voted to participate in a county pilot with Hillsborough that will test neighborhood-scale home hardening and insurance approaches, with a minimum participation requirement of about 25 households. Helen said the pilot is expected to be cost-neutral to the town and will involve contractors and economies of scale for homeowners who choose to participate.
“We're hoping there'll be a scale of economy because of bringing ... doing more home hardening all at once,” Helen said, and staff asked residents who are on the FAIR Plan to contact the wildfire preparedness committee to help identify neighborhoods that would most benefit from the pilot.
