Three sealed bids for the Gold Star Memorial Bike Trail were opened at the July 1 Board meeting. The bids read by City Attorney Alex Kutanovski were Garriup Construction $927,500 (alternate $489,700); Austgen Equipment $978,682.30 (alternate $446,690.70); and Reith Riley Construction Company $1,184,493.18 (alternate $490,846.30). Kutanovski recommended the bids be accepted pending Legal and Engineering review, and the Board voted unanimously to accept them for review.
Mayor Pete Land told the Board the project is financed by grant awards the city received through the State of Indiana and the Department of Natural Resources; construction is planned for completion this fall. The Board took no final award action pending the recommended reviews.
