Crown Point swears in Officer Shaun Meyer to the police department

Officer Shaun Meyer was sworn in as the newest member of the Crown Point Police Department at the Board of Public Works & Safety meeting on July 1, 2026. Assistant Chief James Janda introduced Meyer, who was identified as Badge #138 and noted for prior service with Kouts, Whiting and Cedar Lake police departments and training at the Northern Indiana Law Enforcement Academy.
Mayor Pete Land administered the oath. Meyer thanked family and colleagues for their support and expressed his long-term commitment to the city. The swearing-in took place during a regularly scheduled meeting attended by Mayor Land and Board members Betsy Barnes, Bob Clemons and Bill Gomez.
