Carson council certifies Measure FW defeat; city to host official fireworks event

The Carson City Council adopted Resolution No. 26-078 reciting the results of the June 2 special municipal election and formally declaring Measure FW failed. The measure would have authorized a different fireworks policy; by council action the certified result stands and the city will coordinate an official fireworks display.
Mayor Lula Davis Holmes framed the result as the will of the voters: "The residents, they spoke loud and clear; they didn't want any type of fireworks in the city of Carson." Councilmember Jim Deere moved adoption, and the council unanimously approved the resolution. City staff will file the certificate of the canvas with the county clerk as required.
