Council tables Morley Field batting cage request to March 18

Troy, Director of Parks & Recreation, presented a proposal for new batting cages at Morley Field with a total project cost of $18,000 and asked the city to pay the remaining $8,397 after other contributions. He told the council what Parks & Rec would pay and requested City assistance to cover the balance.
Resident Renee Chaloupka had earlier urged the council to support the batting cages, saying the kids "need the right equipment." Council members discussed possible cost reductions and voted to table the item for further consideration at the March 18, 2026 meeting. The motion to table was made by Council Member Allen Hisken and seconded by Council Member Dennis McGinnis; the vote was unanimous.
