Planning director previews City Center planned development and other upcoming Basehor projects

Planning and zoning director Jim Sherman updated the Basehor City Planning Commission on the city’s development pipeline and upcoming presentations. He said staff expect a large City Center planned development to come before the commission in July and that staff are finalizing numbers with applicants.
Sherman previewed a community survey presentation by Deputy City Administrator Maddie Bautner that staff hope to bring to the July agenda. "It's great information and also reflects on the great job that this body has done too," Sherman said, noting the survey will show where the city has come from and where it is heading.
Sherman also mentioned the EPIC property at 158th and State, which the city had expected to hold for future use but where the owner is now moving forward with conceptual plans; he said that work likely will not turn dirt immediately. He reported that Fairway is progressing and that the high school project is moving ahead, and that staff plan to slow the schedule slightly to ensure more complete background work before bringing large items forward.
