Commission appoints judicial commissioner, reappoints library board members and elects multiple notaries; mayor recognizes championship baseball team

The Cumberland County Commission adopted RES 06-2026-1 to appoint Joseph Moody as Judicial Commissioner for a one-year term expiring July 1, 2027. The motion was moved by Commissioner David Gibson and seconded by Commissioner Sue Ann York and carried by unanimous voice vote.
The commission also adopted RES 06-2026-2 reappointing Cathy Cathey and Commissioner Greg Maxwell to the Cumberland County Library Board for three-year terms through June 30, 2029. A roll call vote was recorded as unanimous. In a separate action the commission elected a list of local residents to serve as notaries public for the state of Tennessee; the names were entered into the meeting minutes.
County Mayor Allen Foster offered a special recognition congratulating the Cumberland County High School baseball team for winning the 7-AAA District Championship — the first such title in 64 years at the school.
