Register of Deeds Brian Hunoff reported a healthy second quarter, noting April was the department’s best month at $33,689 in fees and that transfer fees and real‑estate sales are on pace to exceed last year’s totals.
Hunoff provided transactional detail: 259 birth certificates, 302 death certificates, 47 marriage licenses, 246 deeds (up 36 year‑over‑year), and 204 mortgages (up 21). He said the office processed 1,416 cash transactions in the quarter (an increase of 78 versus last year) and recorded a reduction in county liens compared with 2025. Hunoff also reviewed staffing: budgeted full‑time positions declined from 99 on 01/01/2019 to 95 as of July 2026, a net reduction of four positions; he said some tasks use part‑time staff and the task force requested full‑time‑equivalent calculations for part‑timers.
Commissioners thanked Hunoff for the transparency and approved the Register of Deeds Q2 report on a motion and vote.
