Finance committee asks staff, consultants for updated sewer forecasts before next meeting

Committee members agreed they need the most recent sewer financial forecast and supporting schedules to quantify how the sewer program will affect taxes and other capital projects. Members said they want the data distributed in advance so they can prepare questions and conduct meaningful analysis at the September meeting.
"What is the most recent forecast of the sewer expenses going forward?" one member asked, urging staff to bring the latest approved numbers rather than an older projection. Another member confirmed a 2023 AECOM spreadsheet exists and suggested the committee request an updated version or a brief presentation from the consultant or town finance staff.
The committee asked the chair to coordinate with town finance (Kim) and to request that the forecast be distributed at least a week before the meeting so members can review and prepare. A member also pledged to prepare a separate debt and debt-service analysis to share with the committee before Labor Day, using town financial statements and warrants as source documents.
Committee members emphasized they are not seeking an adversarial relationship with staff, but they want clear, comparable numbers and assumptions so the committee's findings and recommendations can be useful to voters and the select board.
