Members emphasized that the committee's charter directs it to "examine and analyze the town's financial affairs, including proposed budgets [and] capital improvement plans," and they said the sewer program is the single largest such commitment facing Orleans now. "The single largest financial commitment that the town of Orleans has made is to wastewater," Elaine Baird said, summarizing why the committee will devote considerable time to that topic.
The committee also approved Elaine Baird as vice chair and Craig Olivero as clerk by voice vote. The chair said the officers will coordinate outreach to town staff and outside consultants to ensure the committee has up-to-date financial schedules and projections ahead of its next substantive meeting.
The committee adjourned after approving the minutes from July 9.
