Christopher Nance was appointed police chief at the Pine Mountain Mayor and Council meeting on June 8, 2026. The minutes show Councilmember Curtis Bray moved to appoint Nance and Councilmember Frankie Mabry seconded; Councilmembers James W. Trott Jr., Thomas E. Scott and Stokeley Pound voted in favor.
Earlier in the agenda, the minutes record that Interim Chief Nance provided the department's report covering recent activity (a Master's ski/sports tournament), equipment upgrades to gas pumps (digital readings), community education topics (teen mental health, internet safety, vaping and fentanyl abuse, scam and fraud education), and event planning including a pool party on July 17 (6:00–8:00 PM) and preliminary planning for an America 250 motorcycle ride. The council recorded the formal appointment during the same meeting.
