Committee members discussed the importance of obtaining a preliminary project schedule and of including school operating schedules and construction restrictions in the bid specifications prepared by Russell and Dawson. They said these elements are necessary to ensure the work can be coordinated around the school year and limit disruption to students and staff.
The committee agreed the architect should incorporate construction phasing, completion requirements, and any time-of-day or seasonal restrictions into the plans and specifications so bidders understand operational constraints. Staff and committee members flagged that coordination with school calendars and completion requirements will affect both cost and the timing of construction activities.
Mrs. Raynor said she will ask the architect to include those constraints in the next revision and provide the schedule in advance of the Aug. 19 meeting for committee review. That information will feed both the DAS plan review and the district’s procurement timeline.
