New Lake Shop owner asks Linn Valley council for expedited licensing review and plans expanded hours

Cindy Nelson, who introduced herself at the Sept. 23 meeting as "one of the new owners of the Lake Shop," told the council the store is closed while licensing and ownership transfer paperwork are completed and asked whether the council could hold a special meeting or expedited review so the business could reopen sooner. "The shop is closed right now while we're waiting for licensing and a few other things to be wrapped up while we transition the ownership over to us... The next meeting is not until October 15, during which time the shop remains closed," Nelson said.
Mayor Donaldson explained the council must provide 24-hour public notice for additional meetings and asked Nelson to contact Mindy with a proposed date; he said the council would try to accommodate the request. Nelson also described plans to extend hours, add food options and groceries, and pursue food-desert program grants to keep prices reasonable. Council members welcomed the business and suggested grant sources to support grocery offerings.
