At its Nov. 24 meeting, the Humboldt Planning and Zoning Board voted to table a conditional‑use application from Francois Castle for a "shouse" in an R‑1 residential district so Castle can amend the application to include a home‑based small repair business. Chairman Dave Froke made the motion to table; Kristi Gambs seconded, and all members present voted aye.
Castle told the board that he planned to operate a small repair business out of the garage portion of the proposed structure, which the minutes say requires an additional conditional‑use approval. The board recorded that Castle will resubmit the conditional‑use application with the expanded scope and that notices will be published in the paper ahead of the new hearing.
The board scheduled the resubmitted conditional‑use public hearing for Dec. 22, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. at the Humboldt Community Center. The board’s action on Nov. 24 was procedural—tabling the application to allow the applicant to provide the required application materials and public notice rather than approving or denying the use.
