Consultant outlines six-month strategic-planning process; trustees to name representative

Ariana, the consultant leading the library's strategic-planning work, delivered an update on completed analysis and the next steps for creating a new strategic plan. "So we've done an internal organizational assessment," Ariana said, and she described accompanying work: a mission/vision/values review, an organizational-culture assessment, and a PETSEP-style analysis that complements a SWOT. She said staff and community survey results from 2024 informed the planning and that a project plan and timeline are drafted.

Ariana described the proposed committee as a circle of influence including trustees, library staff from circulation and technical services, recreation partners, Friends/Foundation representatives and community partners, and she said the team is aiming for a six-month planning window with a first meeting in early August. Trustees queried whether the committee should be an ad-hoc committee of the board or a broader group; staff and trustees agreed trustees should participate, but that staff and a consultant usually manage the technical work of research and community engagement. The board moved to appoint one trustee representative and an alternate to the committee; one trustee volunteered to serve as the representative with an alternate named.
