Anderson County Board approves routine business, construction change orders and operational items

The Anderson County Board of Education opened its regular meeting with a performance by the Saffle Street singers and moved quickly through routine business, approving the meeting agenda and the minutes from the January 13, 2025 meeting by roll-call vote.
The board accepted the treasurer’s monthly financial report, which showed a year-to-date revenue increase of 7.5%, driven in part by roughly $575,000 in additional property-tax receipts and about $999,000 in investment interest, the treasurer reported. The board also approved the treasurer’s posted orders without questions.
Members approved construction change orders to add power metering to the control system for the middle-school and elementary projects (BG 23-13), and authorized payment summaries and professional invoices related to those projects. The meeting record included approval of a construction pay estimate No. 15 and a professional services payment to the project architect as read during the meeting.
Other motions approved by roll call included renewal of student accident insurance through Zurich (K & K via Robert’s Insurance Agency), approval of donations to schools, trip requests for student groups, one early-graduation petition, a shortened school-day accommodation based on a 504 committee recommendation, and calendar adjustments for 2024–25 and 2025–26.
The board adjourned after the consent and business agenda items were completed.
