Anderson County High School Marching Band honored as kMEA Class 4A state champions

The superintendent said the band, a 70-student ensemble, earned distinctions including kMEA Class 4A state champion, regional Bands of America placings and the highest prelims score from Kentucky at Bands of America Grand Nationals. Band director Philip S and assistant director Kate Sammons were invited forward and parents and students shared short remarks about the season. One parent said, “I am so proud of these kids... they have worked... ten hours and 11 hours a day,” and a student described the season as “one of my favorite seasons that I've ever marched.” The superintendent also noted the band will be recognized on the state capitol floor in February, pending arrangements.
The board and audience offered rounds of applause; the recognition was celebratory and no board action was required beyond acknowledgment.
