Board approves $1.6M deposit to trigger ComEd line relocation; work awaits BNSF permit

Director Reese told the board the village must pay a $1,600,000 construction deposit to ComEd to schedule a crew for relocating the line at 1 North Cass; the construction estimate was described as "approximately $2,000,000" and ComEd will bill or refund the difference to reflect actual costs. Reese said the work will start within two weeks of either the BNSF permit or the village payment, whichever is later.
Board members asked about timing and Reese estimated work could start as early as September if the BNSF permit is received; he also noted the on-site construction phase would take about three to four weeks once crews begin. The board moved, seconded and approved the ordinance to provide the construction deposit.
"So at this time, we would have to pay them a construction deposit of $1,600,000 and they will schedule a crew to come and do the relocation," Reese told the board, noting the BNSF permit remains outstanding.
