Chairperson Tina Garzillo told the Board and residents that the Township has been reviewing data center issues for over a year and has already adopted restrictions on such facilities. "We clearly heard their concerns and their input is necessary and welcomed," Garzillo said, adding that the Board is "actively fact‑finding and continuing to research this issue" and will bring in independent agencies and utility partners to inform any changes.
Garzillo said no formal plan has been submitted and the Township must follow established review processes once an application arrives. She told residents the Board supports a temporary statewide moratorium to allow time for study, but emphasized the Board "wants to be assured that local municipal control over zoning for data centers, housing and other land uses is preserved." The statement will be posted on the Township website and officials said any regulatory changes will be shaped by technical input from power companies, water providers and outside experts.
