Selectmen report truck bid, clarify attorney-fee figures; town meeting to decide purchase

Selectmen reported on Sept. 2 that the Finance Board has received a bid for a town truck; the board said a town meeting will be scheduled for a vote once contract details are finalized.
In the same report Selectman Craig Whiting clarified an earlier reference about attorney fees: the board recorded that attorney fees "were over $70,000" but Whiting stated that figure referred to 2023, not 2024 or 2025. He said current-year attorney fees are "in the range of about $10,000," which the minutes note is under the cap that would require a town meeting for additional appropriations.
Selectmen also reported that sticker sales at the transfer station are up compared with prior periods. No procurement vote for the truck was taken at the Sept. 2 meeting; the board intends to place the truck purchase on the warrant for a future town meeting when details are complete.
