Committee recommends $50 environmental health subdivision review fee

The Planning & Economic Development Committee recommended approval of ordinance O-26-019, which would fold the Environmental Health Department’s subdivision review fee into the city’s standard subdivision plan-review fees. Planning Manager Sam Durfee told the committee the fee is intended to cover staff time from the Environmental Health Department and that the proposed amount is $50.
Committee members recorded no public testimony during the hearing and moved quickly to a motion to recommend final passage. Alderman Amber Morgan, who spoke during the hearing, noted the health department did not know when the fee was last raised and said it appeared the fee had not kept pace with inflation: "The health department does not know the last time that this fee was raised going back at least 20 years," Morgan said. By roll call the committee approved the motion and recommended the ordinance for final passage by the full Board of Aldermen.
