The Prairie County Board of Health convened a working lunch at noon and received several program updates. Public Health Nurse Tylene Eaton delivered a special presentation on human‑to‑human rabies transmission via solid‑organ transplantation. Health Officer Chip Mintz reported on flu and COVID activity in the county and County Sanitarian Brant Gordon reviewed environmental health inspections and septic permitting activity over the past 12 months.
The Tobacco Prevention Specialist Jeana Stedman reported regional tobacco‑prevention activities and outreach, including social‑media posts and local newspaper placements. School Superintendent Megan Murrell provided a school update. The Board approved minutes from Sept. 17, 2025, and set the next Board of Health meeting for March 18, 2026.
The Sanitarian’s written report covering Dec. 2024–Nov. 2025 shows 24 inspections of licensed establishments, 28 violations observed and 22 corrected as of Nov. 30, 2025 (79% corrected). The minutes also reference upcoming public health classes and regional coalition meetings.
