Residents and councilors urged the village to undertake a tree inventory to provide a baseline for future stormwater and canopy-management work. Marty Sanders and Elizabeth Goldberg said species-level data and a count of existing trees would help assess canopy loss associated with construction and support future regulation.
Village Manager Michael said the village has an older survey of public right-of-way trees and will investigate options for updating data; councilors suggested exploring satellite or LIDAR data and partnerships with regional tree programs. "Doing a tree audit's a good idea," the manager said; residents asked that the village consider whether Davie, the new tree contractor, could perform or assist with the inventory or whether a separate contract would be required.
