Engineering quarterly: multiple road projects advance; $475,000 cost-share awarded for Azaria Road

Justin Mader gave a comprehensive April–July update for Saline County's public works program. He said the county accepted qualifications from several design-build teams to remodel the engineering office, began construction on a reinforced concrete box project, completed overlays on Waterwell Road and Minner Road, and planned a chip-seal contract covering 31.6 miles. He also described a pipelining schedule, aggregate shouldering work for 13 miles, and sequencing constraints tied to utility relocations.
Mader reported that Saline County was awarded $475,000 through a cost-share program for the Azaria Road reconstruction project (Old 81 to Ohio Street) and that the city of Azaria will schedule a town hall to discuss construction phasing and neighborhood impacts. He summarized fund balances for the county's special road (124), special bridge (125) and special highway accounts and said bridge inspections and a federal fund exchange yielded nearly $117,000 to help cover inspection costs.
