Auburn Elementary honors student and staff with Shining Star and All-Star awards

Melissa Wells Martin, principal of Auburn Elementary, recognized students and staff in the meeting's opening segment. She introduced Maddie Hosey, a first-grade student, as the school's Shining Star recipient and described Maddie's classroom participation and perseverance.
"Maddie never complains, never gives up, and always does her best," Martin said, explaining that Maddie was nominated by her fourth-grade teacher for outstanding effort and progress. Martin also presented a Classified Staff All-Star Award to paraeducator Cindy Underhill, who has served Auburn Elementary for ten years, and a Certified Staff All-Star Award to preschool teacher Heather Appenfeller, who has taught preschool for 28 years.
Martin highlighted each honoree's contributions to student learning and school culture and thanked them for their service. There was applause from the room, and board members extended congratulations.
