Jessica briefed the board that Kansas State Department of Education (KSDE) guidance recommends placing charitable contributions on the board agenda and described two December donations the board would be asked to accept: a $10,000 contribution from the Federal Home Loan Bank in Topeka designated for architecture and construction pathways at the innovation center, and a $6,000 individual donor gift for unrestricted support at the Tallgrass Student Learning Center.
"So the 2 tonight are a $10,000 contribution from Federal Home Loan Bank in Topeka... and then a $6,000 contribution from an individual donor for unrestricted support at the Tallgrass Student Learning Center," Jessica said. Later in the meeting the board moved and approved acceptance of charitable gifts totaling $16,000 by a 7-0 vote.
Jessica said the district will place charitable gifts on the consent agenda going forward to ensure review and acceptance in accordance with board policy and KSDE guidance. The funds are to be deposited into the district's gifts and grants fund and administered according to donor intent.
