The Board of Education approved a guaranteed maximum price (GMP) for the Pauling South bond construction project in a 7-0 vote. The motion to approve the GMP of $1,852,993 was made and seconded, and the board recorded the vote as passing unanimously.
"Go ahead and move the Board of Education approve the guaranteed maximum price for Pauline South bond construction project in the amount of $1,852,993," said the board member who moved the motion. The chair seconded and conducted a roll-call-style confirmation; the motion passed 7 to 0.
During discussion, project staff reported healthy local bidder participation and said an estimated 88% of the base-bid work could go to local contractors, representing nearly $1,200,000 in local work under current alternates and allowances. Staff said this is the final GMP approval tied to the 2020 bond program and that the board may consider additional capital outlay committee recommendations later in the spring.
The board recorded no amendments to the motion. The GMP approval moves the Pauling South project into the construction phase under the bond program.
