Rolesville extends Wake County nondiscrimination interlocal agreement for another term

The board voted July 21 to extend Rolesville’s interlocal agreement with Wake County that allows the county’s nondiscrimination complaint and mediation program to receive complaints arising within town limits. Town counsel explained the program is voluntary, imposes no town fiscal obligations and that the town has not received any complaints under the program to date. The board approved the extension by voice vote.
Town attorney said the agreement provides a process by which a complaint filed with the town may be forwarded to Wake County and mediated through Campbell Law School if within jurisdiction. Commissioners discussed optics and asked staff to monitor the program implementation and public communications.
