The Dunedin CRA voted July 23 to approve a new lease for the 32-space parking lot at 715 Edgewater, across from the marina. Staff recommended the agreement as a low-cost, community-supportive arrangement and said the lessee would cover property taxes and requested additional liability insurance.
"It's a 32 space parking lot... she is not looking to make any money off of this lease, just pay for any fees that she incurs such as property taxes," said Matt Jackson, Economic Development Manager, describing the arrangement and staff’s recommendation of a three-year term with three one-year renewal options. Commissioners asked clarifying questions about zoning and whether spaces are striped; staff said wheel stops exist but there is no striping and that zoning would be confirmed by email.
After no public comment, the commission moved and seconded approval; the motion passed unanimously. Commissioners also noted the importance of retaining parking while the marina project is under construction.
