Florence board directs attorney to draft moratoriums, update sick-leave and water policy; bans individual from city property after executive session

At its Nov. 4 meeting the board directed the city attorney to update a moratorium on used car lots, draft a moratorium on the number of service/gas stations, update the sick-leave policy to match state policy, and work on water/wastewater policy updates; in executive session the board authorized a letter banning Michael C. Rayborn from City Hall and police property.
The Florence board gave several policy and directive instructions Nov. 4. The board authorized City Attorney Bobby Lingold to update the existing moratorium on used car lots and to draft a separate moratorium limiting the number of service/gas stations allowed in the city; motions for both directives carried unanimously.
The board also authorized Lingold to update the city's sick-leave policy to mirror state policy and to work with Mayor Trey Gunn on updating water and wastewater policies and fees. Those motions were carried unanimously. Later, in executive session, the board authorized the city attorney to send a letter informing Michael C. Rayborn he will no longer be permitted on City Hall or Florence Police Department property; the executive-session motion recorded votes of Herrin (Aye), Martin (Aye) and Sistrunk (Aye) with Banks and Grantham absent.
