Florence authorizes mayor to request MDOT release of contractor and sign reimbursement forms

At the Aug. 19 meeting the board authorized Mayor Trey Gunn to ask MDOT to release AJ Construction, Inc. from maintenance obligations and to sign current and future reimbursement forms to MDOT.
On the recommendation of City Engineer Tim Parker, the Florence board authorized Mayor Trey Gunn to send a letter to the Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) requesting that MDOT fully release contractor AJ Construction, Inc. from maintenance responsibilities. The board also authorized the mayor to sign current and future reimbursement forms to MDOT.
Alderman Mason Herrin moved to authorize the letter (seconded by Alderman John Banks); the motion carried unanimously. A separate motion (moved by Alderman John Banks and seconded by Alderman Kyle Martin) authorized the mayor to sign reimbursement forms going to MDOT; that motion also passed unanimously. The minutes do not include the underlying project details or the reason MDOT release was requested.
